The History Story of T Sullivan

A legacy of quality craftsmanship and innovation in steel fabrication

Steel Delivery Wirral

T Sullivan Engineering is a second generation family business based in Wallasey Merseyside, which specialises in Steel Fabrication, Structural Steelwork, staircases, Handrails and Architectural metalwork for Industrial commercial and Residential developments.

The founder of the company Terry Sullivan, following many years in the merchant navy as a chief engineer for the Blue Funnel line, started his engineering business (T Sullivan Engineering) following many years in the merchant navy, sailing for the Blue funnel line as a chief engineer. After leaving the merchant navy Terry spotted an opportunity with the skills he had obtained over the years, to provide “quality fabricated metal products”.

So, Terry started his first engineering company from the garage in this garden in Pensby, and progressed though to workshops at The Lairage site at Woodside in Birkenhead, and later moved to a facility opposite Cammell Lairds. After running this company for circa 17 years it sadly fell victim to the recession in the late 1980’s.

Starting over again in 1990 a little poorer and a little wiser Terry, went into business with a partner and formed a new company Mictel. This operation was based in Heswall and was initially aimed at providing glazed and steel work security products, many aimed at the domestic market.

In 1995 Chris Sullivan joined the company and started to serve his apprenticeship within the company.

Over the following years old business contacts got back in touch and the work started to move more towards the steel fabrication market.

By 1997 the business was bursting out of the small premises it occupied in Heswall, and so the company moved to a larger location in Wallasey. Due to the direction the company was now taking, the partnership split and the company changed its name back to T Sullivan Engineering to capitalize on the earlier recognition within the local business network.

Over the following years the business maintained its growth and increased its reputation within the industry. By 2007 the company was on the move again just around the corner this time to their current location still in Wallasey, thus increasing the capabilities and growth opportunities. During the year of 2007 Terry Sullivan retired due to ill health and Chris Sullivan took over the day to day running of the firm.

From 2007 T Sullivan Engineering has continued to turn out steel work and metal work for all manner of projects and clients, and continues to strive on those founding value of quality first.
